How does it work?
We are a mobile vet practice that travels to your home in our modern, custom-built van that doubles as a consulting room.
We cover most of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and surrounding areas.
Our van is bright, modern, and well equipped. We can provide most consulting-based services such as vaccinations, blood tests and health checks. Please see our services page for further information.
If your pet needs further tests or surgery that are beyond the scope of our practice, don’t worry – we work closely with a network of local practices that are well-known to us and can arrange referral to one of these.
We are happy to work alongside your existing practice or you can use us as your primary vet.
Our opening hours are 8am-6pm Monday-Friday.
Our registered clients can access veterinary care 24/7 at Westway Vets’, Hospital in Newcastle for urgent care and emergencies that we are unable to help with personally, so your pet will never be left without care. (426-428 West Road, Fenham, NE5 2ER, 0191 2747910).
Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest things any owner can face, but the care and compassion we received from this veterinary team made an incredibly painful moment feel a little more bearable.From the moment they arrived, they treated our amazing boy with such dignity, kindness, and respect. They took the time to ensure he was comfortable and at peace, and just as importantly, they supported us with genuine empathy and understanding throughout the entire process. Nothing felt rushed, and every step was handled with sensitivity and care.Their compassion didn’t go unnoticed; it meant everything to us in that moment. We are so grateful that our boy was able to cross the rainbow bridge surrounded by love, with such gentle and thoughtful guidance from people who truly care.Thank you for helping us say goodbye in the most peaceful and respectful way possible. we had to make the hardest decision ever to get our bulldog bruno put to sleep on 10-3-26. 13 years we had him and the house is so quiet without him. thank you to angela and jo for having compassion, being so caring and understanding and also thank you for our sympathy card at this heartbreaking time
First class vets that come right to your home. Jo and her team all give you a first class service. They are professional, friendly and treat your pets as if they are their own. My cats are so well looked after by them and I highly recommend.

Switching to Doorstep Vet was one of the best decisions we made last year. The care has felt so personalised, and that extra time and attention to detail was the difference between life and death for our cat Spaceman over Christmas. Everyone on the team is beyond lovely and accommodating from admin to vet nurses and the vets themselves. Firm and realistic when it comes to pets required care while remaining empathetic and completely judgement free. Really can't recommend them enough!
We are so grateful for all the support we were given when we had to make the decision to have our beloved Jasper to sleep, he was 18 years old and was starting to struggle, we are all devastated that he has gone. The support we got from the very first phone call with Joanna to Gemma and Angela coming to our house made the decision more bearable, they are lovely caring people and we cannot thank them enough, we miss our Jasper so much but we know he is at peace now.

The vet and nurse came to put my Mothers dog to sleep at her home. It was an upsetting experience but the staff were understanding and kind. The compassion and patience was second to none. Her dog was wrapped in a blanket like a baby and we were asked if we would like to kiss him one last time before they took him away.We would definitely recommend these professionals and it was so personal compared to a vetinary practice.
I would recommend this service to anyone who wants excellent care for their pet. They are Knowledgeable, supportive and always explain and give me options on the best way forward for my dog.

December 22/25Our Border Collie Mix Boomer has always been adverse to vet visits. Vet Jo, assistants Gabby & Angela are the best. We had a visit last week for vaccinations & check up for Boomer and everything went very well. He recently had surgery for torn ACL joint with pins & screws to support his knee. It has been around 4 months since he has been doing his normal daily routine of running around like a crazy dog, hence his weight is not ideal. Boomer is now more active, doing hydrotherapy, longer walks an every day. He has started on weight loss program with Doorstop Vet Team, monitoring his progress. I had a fantastic experience with Doorstep Vets. They came to my home to give my boy Stormzy his injections, and the entire process was smooth, professional, and completely stress-free. The vet was incredibly kind, gentle, and patient with my dog, taking the time to make him feel comfortable before administering the injections.It was such a relief not having to travel to a clinic, and my dog was noticeably calmer being treated at home. The service was efficient, caring, and clearly delivered by people who genuinely love animals. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Doorstep Vets again and would highly recommend them to any pet owner looking for convenient, compassionate veterinary care.

Excellent vet and veterinary nurse. They were very understanding of our old three-legged vet-hating cat. They cared for her like they loved her, but also didn't want to try to fleece us for her care.
Fantastic - moved to this mobile vets a few weeks back as it was getting impossible to get my dog into the vets due to stress it caused him. We've had two visits so far, both for boosters and the ladies are extremely patient, calm and comfortable with him despite the fact he is very nervous and does need to be muzzled.The communication is great and everyone I have encountered has been extremely helpful.I'm very glad I made the move.

The Vets and Nurses are very pleasant and friendly. They will always answer any questions you may have. Very gentle with my King Charles Spaniel. One of the great things about this company is they come to your door in a very immaculate van so you don’t have the hassle of getting to them. They always notify you when they are 20 minutes away. I’ve told quite a lot of family and friends about this company. They are highly recommended

A really amazing service and lovely team, the vet, nurse and admin staff were all so helpful, quick and got my mini dachshund seen. I was worried about taking him out myself as he had mobility pain so this was perfect for his situation, but I'll definitely be using them for all veterinary help in the future. What a wonderful caring team of professionals. My elderly in-laws little dog, Nala, who was their pride and joy, had to be put to sleep. My only help for the day were Doorstep Vets.My dog was unwell and couldn't get a vet to come out and I rang so many ! Luckily found this company and two vets came out who were like angels so good with my boy and so understanding.He is very timid took us ages just to get him on the scale and they never complained or made you feel bad .They really cared and helped my dog .Worth every penny big thank you for the two angels who came out when we needed them the most.I really can't thank them enough

Two lovely young ladies helped Blake take his last journey. From the first phone call Doorstep Vets were so helpful and understanding, we were never rushed, everything was explained and Blake got a calm peaceful send off. I cannot thank them enough and highly recommend them for this sad but necessary task.
Absolutely amazing vets and veterinary nurses. My dogs have always been given the highest standard of care. We recently lost our oldest dog Charlie and care and patience given to him during his monthly visits and at the end was second to none! Genuinely caring towards both animals and owners. Our other dogs are very well taken care of during their routine visits. I highly recommend the pet plans too. Great value for money as well as peace of mind. The admin are also great. They are also highly caring and considerate and a pleasure to deal with. Definitely the best vets around!

I can't thank the ladies enough for their help, my cat is very nervous of being in a carrier and car journeys, so coming to me was a huge help and made everything less stressful for both of us as we didn't need the trauma of the car journey. They have also been really good with any advice and concerns during and after their visit. Worth every penny!
So impressed with Doorstep Vet today - they came out to see our little Zico for his first vaccine and health check. Their mobile van parked right outside the house made it so easy, and the vet was just lovely with him. Zico was happily munching a treat and didn’t even realise he’d had his jab. Such a brilliant, stress-free service - I’ve already been raving about them to all my friends!
Another fuss free visit, Joanna and Claire were lovely with Hugo and explained everything. Even when he got a bit anxious and had to be muzzled everything remained calm , and we were all happy at end of appointment. Would definitely recommend.

Outstanding service, the vet makes you feel at ease and they take the time to listen to you. My dog was in safe hands. A treatment plan was agreed there and then. One of my older cats was unwell and losing weight rapidly. The support that Door Step vets and nurses have provided for her over the past year has been amazing and blood tests from them revealed she was diabetic. They have been amazing with her and their sole focus has been to improve her health with ongoing support and suggestions as to how she can improve, regardless of the fact she is an old cat with complex needs. They are fantastic in being transparent about choices and prices and all the actions they have suggested and supplied (new meds, change of diet, monthly check-ins) have seen her health improve significantly where she has gained a lot of weight and she is really flourishing. I’m so thankful that I use this service as they are caring and professional but also really empathetic to me as an owner and they always give me lots of appointment time to discuss things if I need it. I also really appreciated the fact that Jo rang me after speaking to the medication company to discuss ways forward with how best to use the diabetic medication. The additional bonus is that their service is so convenient as they travel to you and this has made the.appointments stress-free/ travel-free for my pets and also really convenient for me as the service fits round my availability. 100% recommend!!!

I short term foster for a charity that rescues Labradors, when Rex came to stay he was very poorly with multiple health problems, Doorstep vets came to see him and it was touch and go as to wether he should be put to sleep however after much discussion between the vets and the charity it was decided to give him a chance. He is now a happy, cheeky stubborn boy who is going to his new forever home soon ., without the expertise and care of the vets and nurses at Doorstep vets this would not have happened I am so impressed with your team Thankyou so much from Rex me and Labradors in need.
I have a shihtzu and he is very temperamental. He is triggered by other dogs and is overly excited with people. I'm so pleased I found doorstep vets as I can now relax when attending appointments. They come right to your door and spend as much time as they need attending to your pets needs. They are professional and have a very attentive team. Last week Milo decided to bounce around the garden and hurt himself. The team were there the same day and sorted him out with everything he needed. Thank you

Said goodbye to our lovely Winston yesterday. The ladies who came were absolutely wonderful. Not only did they have to see us in bits but they were so lovely and caring with Winston, carrying out an awful job with love and dignity.
Doorstep Vets have been outstanding. Having used them for many years I have always been impressed with them. Recently I had a very poorly cat and their care and attention was really reassuring and professional. Being able to speak to someone and arrange appointments was easy and straightforward. Over that time we saw/spoke to all the vets and vet techs ( 4 separate visits in one week) and they were extremely helpful, kind and gave really sound advice. Brilliant company and employees.

I have a rescue cat who is extremely nervous and quite old. It's really important that the vet comes to me to avoid a frightening and difficult journey for the cat. The vets are extremely sensitive and caring, and very patient. Communication around appointments and after consultation is clear and detailed.
Hardest decision ever saying goodbye to our Jack Russel Roxy who was over 17 years old and who hated going to the vets. Old age caught up with her and Doorstep Vets was the perfect choice to remove the stress of going to the vets with her and leaving without her. To say goodbye from home with all the family around her was perfect even with the heartbreak and all the tears. The whole experience was made so much easier using this home visit service and I would thoroughly recommend it. Staff were so kind, professional and caring with Roxy. Thank you Doorstep Vets.

I called Doorstep vets for the first time on Monday morning and spoke to Johanna, she incredibly warm and kind. Jo amd Gabby came out to see my cat Jess. They were lovely, gave some really good advice and checked Jess over throughly. The appointment was not rushed at all. After many years of Mollie having anxiety about going to the vet we decided to give Doorstep Vet a try and I can honestly say we will never look back. The Ladies Gemma and Charlie were amazing with both Mollie and Mabel. They sat on the floor with our dogs took their time and made them feel at ease we had no shaking or anxiety and this was a first. Doorstep vets came to my home In June 23 to put our beloved elsa to sleep they were so professional And caring and in no hurry to leave us until we were ready and said our goodbye. Excellent company if we ever get another pet we will deal with them

So pleased I found these wonderful people for my scared Labrador. Millie hates going to the vet and we normally have to carry her in. I was so happy she got into the van and was very happy receiving lots of treats and totally stress free.The treatment Millie received was amazing and I’m very pleased with the outcome. Me and Azu are very happy with the service provided today by doorstep vet! Very lovely team, registering was very easy on the website and booking an appointment was also very easy and all done via email which is super convenient for me. After booking the appointment I received confirmation with a timespan in which the vet would arrive (between 12-4pm) then on the day of the appointment I received a WhatsApp message 30 minutes before the team arrived in their van, this gave me enough time to get Azu ready to go in her carrier and then when the team arrived we were ready to go into the van and get Azu checked out, the team was lovely with her and she was so much calmer than at a regular vet appointment, she even started exploring the van whereas she would normally completely freeze up and curl into a little ball. All my concerns were addressed and we are getting some further testing done to get to the bottom of things! Thanks so much!
I can't speak highly enough of the service, the vet and the nurse. They are clearly animal lovers and take every effort to make my cat feel comfortable. The convenience of having them come direct to my door is excellent and definitely reduces the stress of having to travel a distance in a vehecle with a nervous animal. We can’t begin to express our gratitude for giving us what we had envisaged for our beloved dog Grace, when the time came to say goodbye to her. From the moment we contacted Doorstep Vet we knew we were in good hands. Jo and Gabby arrived and were so calm, comforting and gentle. Jo explained what would happen. Grace had such a beautiful, peaceful, send off, on her favourite part of the sofa with her family around her. Jo and Gabby left briefly to allow us to say our final goodbye then returned and allowed Grace’s dad to carry her wrapped in her blanket to the van. Jess came today to bring her ashes home to us. The whole team are amazing and i wish all vets were like this. We’re sad we only met them for Grace crossing rainbow bridge. We’d love for them to have cared for her throughout her life! I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending doorstep vet! X
Rob and Jess came out to our house to see my 14 year old spaniel, Bracken.We knew it was the end of his journey but we could not have felt any more at ease in such a difficult situation. We, including Bracken, were instantly made to feel at ease. I cannot recommend this team enough. From my initial enquiry with Johanna to Bracken leaving the house for the last time. you have resorted my faith in vets!iv been let down so many times over the years by my vets, iv changed practice and got let down again ending up having to go back to the original practice only to be let down again, recently in a very big way.i called doorstep vets on recommendation of a friend and as a 2nd opinion and they have given more compassion, time, care, thourgh investigations and quick refferals than my main vets ever have. i would be waiting another 2 weeks another £1000 lighter wasting valuable time.Doorstep vets gave me options, treated things urgently and opted for a refferal asap to get my boy more specialised help, the follow call was not rushed it was calm and i dont feel confused and stressed like i usually am.its not about money for them. even with the call out fee as im in zone 3 they came in at £250 cheaper than my vets running the same tests plus extra.honestly youve mended my heart. i know my chewie was grumpy with you when you came because he doesnt trust vets after the problems hes had and I know hes not well and not his right self, but he was more relaxed with you there than at the usual practice.just thank you! thank you for setting up this independent vets, making it accessible for home visits. your a lovely kind and caring bunchwould 100% recommend.
first time and i must admit they girls were lovely my cat booties usual shy she loved them will defo be using them again thank you got my other cats booked in already

This is the best vets practice I have every known unfortunately I had to let my baby Tyson go he was 14 yrs and 3month the most precious thing to us Jo and Sarah made him so comfortable for the last 6 months of his life he loved seeing them was not stressed at all then when the time came to let go Jo and Jess came and did everything with great dignity then after he was brought home for the last time by Sarah with such dignity I would 100% recommend

We had to let our 13 and half year old Parsons Russell terrier Milly cross the rainbow bridge just over one month ago and Sarah and Jo were absolutely brilliant. They were caring and calm and reassured us throughout such a sad process. We had time to say goodbye and I held Milly while she was sedated and then placed her in her bed before she had to leave us. She was in her own home with everyone around her and had so much love at that moment. They made this as special as it could be given how devastated we were. I couldn't lift my head from sobbing and cuddling Milly but they put their hand on my back calmly before they left to say goodbye, which was so heartfelt and kind. Thank you so much for everything. We couldn't have wanted anything else. You are amazing. The Campbells x

Absolutely lovely vet and nurse who are full of compassion and understanding. Jo and Jess came out same day of call about our elderly precious boy Ollie. The time had come to say goodbye and they helped with making that difficult decision, treating Ollie with the kindness, respect and dignity he deserved. They took Ollie away and brought his ashes back in 2 weeks which took away the distress in that regard. I can't thank them enough and they showed true compassion and kindness.
So helpful, managed to get an appointment quickly and my little boy is usually so nervous at the vets and he was able to be checked out & relax without any issues. Feels like they have way more time and patience for you and your pets than the usual vets.
I am thrilled with the service I get from Jo and Sarah. I get an in depth consultation which is much, much better than my former practice. They spend a lot of time with my cats finding out exactly where the problems are. They are thoroughly professional as well as kind and caring. Transporting my cats to a vetinary practice had become a real problem for me. Now I no longer have to worry. They really are the very best.
We used Doorstep Vet by default but it turned out to be what we would have wanted and wished for as we said goodbye to a very special member of our family….from my initial conversation with Sarah for making it possible at short notice to come to the house and Jo for giving up her time on a day when she wasn’t at work and making a very difficult day bearable….as a family we would like to thank Sarah and Jo for their professionalism empathy and compassion shown to our 13year old Black Labrador Bella and to us… I cannot recommend them highly enough….

Sarah and Jo were absolutely fantastic. We had our cat peacefully put to sleep in his own bed. This is never easy, but the way they conducted it was impeccable and they were so sensitive, warm and kind. We would not hesitate to recommend them.
Thank you so much to Jo and Sarah of Doorstep Vets who could not have been more accommodating of our short notice request to attend our house to euthanise our beloved family dog who declined quickly in the end with a terminal condition. They were absolutely compassionate and professional and made the whole sad event easier to bear and gave us the lovely, peaceful ending we had hoped for. I am quite certain having met them that they would be a perfect GP vet to establish a great long term relationship with too. Many thanks to them.
