About Doorstep Vet
Since opening in 2022. Doorstep Vet has operated entirely as a mobile service, visiting patients at their own homes across Tyne & Wear in our specially converted vans. Our established mobile consultation service has built a loyal client base, with more than 500 five-star reviews, and we were named Best UK Vets County Winner for Tyne & Wear in both 2025 and 2026.
From the outset, we made a conscious decision to keep our mobile service focused on consultations and care at home, rather than carrying out surgery from our vans. We felt that surgical procedures were best supported by a dedicated clinical environment, with the additional space, equipment and facilities available to provide the highest standards of care for our patients.
Our mobile service is hugely popular, but as a consult-only service, we currently have to refer patients elsewhere when they need surgery, dentistry or other procedures. Great Park will change this, allowing us to bring these services in-house and provide greater continuity of care for our existing patients and clients.
Great Park
Great Park will be our first permanent clinic, providing a comprehensive, local first-opinion veterinary service for the growing Great Park community. It will operate as a regular veterinary clinic, where local clients can bring their pets for consultations, diagnostics, treatment, surgery and dentistry.
Alongside this, our established mobile consultation service will continue to operate, allowing us to offer the flexibility of both clinic-based and mobile care. For our clients, it means the best of both worlds — familiar, low-stress care at home when that’s what their pet needs, and access to a dedicated clinic when they need more involved treatment.

The practice
The new clinic will be a modern, purposefully designed, low-stress environment. A huge part of our ethos is that veterinary care should be as calm and positive an experience as possible for pets and their owners, and our approach puts patient welfare, low-stress handling and thoughtful clinical care at the centre of everything we do.
Facilities will include:
- Three consulting rooms
- Dedicated operating facilities
- In-house laboratory
- Digital X-ray
- Dental facilities including dental X-ray
- Separate dog and cat kennels
- Preparation area
- Modern equipment to support a broad range of first-opinion cases
Great Park and Northumberland
The practice itself is located in Great Park Town Centre, which sits at the heart of the thriving, family-friendly Great Park community. Great Park is a rapidly growing, family-friendly suburb with shops, cafes and restaurants on the doorstep, while Newcastle city centre is only 3 miles away. With Northumberland’s stunning coastline, countryside and outdoor spaces close by, it offers an excellent quality of life, combining the convenience of city living with easy access to some of the North East’s most beautiful surroundings.
