We are an award-winning mobile practice bringing high quality veterinary care to our clients’ homes.
We have an exciting opportunity for an RVN to join our growing team. This is a client-facing role, assisting with vet appointments whilst also leading nurse consults. You’ll be out and about in our fully equipped van, helping to deliver exceptional customer service and patient care. When working with our vets you will be driving the van in between appointments. You will work as part of a two person team and will have the support of our office staff to ensure your day runs smoothly.
With our longer appointment times (up to 30 minutes as standard), this role would suit someone who loves meeting people as well as caring for their pets, and who relishes the opportunity to build long-standing client relationships. It’s this philosophy that’s just won us the Best UK Vets “Best in County” award 2025 (Tyne & Wear).
What makes working for us special? Without doubt it is the client-focused culture of the practice and the reputation we’re building for this (from the feedback we’ve had). As such we choose who joins our team carefully to ensure it’s a two-way fit. We want whoever takes up the role to share the same empathy and passion for customer and patient care as we do. In return you’ll find like-minded, supportive and genuinely friendly colleagues who’ll help make each day a more fulfilling experience.
If this sounds like it’s for you, you’ll be invited to spend a couple of hours in the van to ensure you understand what we’re about and that you’re happy with it – we did say it’s a two-way process after all… 🙂

Why Doorstep Vet?

We opened our doors in April 2022 – having initially started the practice from our founder Jo’s home, we’ve come a long way in just 2 years and now have a fabulous head office in Prestwick Park (near the airport) and two vans on the road… but we also need more great people.
Our modern, fully equipped consulting rooms would rival that of any standard practice setup. We focus on things we can do exceptionally well, which is consulting. We leave operations and hospitalisation to static practices, who are better placed to provide this than we are. We have the support of a large practice group in Newcastle for anything urgent or out of hours, so our patients are never without the care they need.
Contextualised care forms a huge part of our ethos. Our service is highly personal, very professional and tailored to each client and their pet.

Why join us?

Our team has had experience in a range of practices spanning over 20 years, from big corporates to smaller, more traditional practices. We’ve recreated the best bits and left the not-so-good bits behind, to create the best possible experience for our clients, patients and our staff. We pride ourselves on being a fantastic place to work. We value our staff hugely and we promote a healthy work-life balance. We don’t work weekends, bank holidays or out of hours, we respect lunch breaks and we offer highly competitive pay.
Not only is our service a lot less stressful for pets and their owners, it’s also a lot more relaxed for us. We typically see between 6 and 8 appointments per day, with each appointment taking on average 30 minutes. If you’re feeling frustrated by working in hectic, overstretched practices and don’t have enough time to give your clients and patients the level of service you want to provide, we could be just what you’re looking for….
Want more? We also offer paid lunch breaks and a proper coffee machine for your morning caffeine fix before you hit the road!
